Things to do in Jaisalmer

Welcome to Jaisalmer, India’s Golden City. Jaisalmer is a traveler’s paradise, known for its
magnificent yellow sandstone architecture, colorful culture, and rich history. My personal
highlights in Jaisalmer were the sand dunes camel safari and roaming the amazing passageways
and steps of the Jaisalmer Fort. It’s time to set off on an enthralling quest to discover the top
things to do in Jaisalmer.

When it comes to lodging, Jaisalmer has a variety of possibilities. My personal favorite is the
Heritage Villa Resort Camp, which offers a one-of-a-kind experience of staying in sumptuous
tents in the middle of the desert. For a more opulent lodging, the Heritage Mohrangar Fort
offers stunning views of the city. In terms of my own visit, I definitely recommend the Pleasant
Haveli, a charming hotel that offers a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Let’s get started with the greatest things to do in Jaisalmer. The Jaisalmer Fort, popularly known
as the Golden Fort, is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Exploring the small
passageways of the fort, which are studded with elaborately carved havelis, temples, and
stores, is like stepping back in time. The fort features spectacular balconies, stone lattices, and
pavilions, as well as a blend of Rajput and Islamic architectural styles. Don’t miss out on the
Private Heritage City Tour, which takes you to all of Jaisalmer’s prominent locations, including
the fort.
A series of exquisite Jain Temples can be found inside the Jaisalmer Fort. These temples are
made of the same golden-yellow sandstone and have elaborate carvings, sculptures, and
domes. The walls are embellished with scenes from Jain mythology, and the temples are still
functioning places of worship, providing visitors with a peaceful ambiance. Make a point of
seeing the Jain Temples on your schedule.
Bada Bagh, a unique cemetery located just a short drive from the city center, is another
intriguing destination to visit. Bada Bagh, which is built around a water tank, contains
cenotaphs, miniature shrines, and memorial monuments for deceased relatives. The tranquil
settings and historical significance combine for an unforgettable experience.
Head to Gadi Sagar Lake, a man-made reservoir established by Jaisalmer’s first monarch, for a
peaceful respite. Surrounded by temples, shrines, and ghats, the lake reflects the architectural
splendor of the city. It’s also a famous place for birdwatching, particularly in the winter when
migratory species visit the lake.
To round up your Jaisalmer experience, dine at one of the rooftop cafes. With amazing views of
the city, these cafes are the ideal place to unwind and eat delicious food. My personal favorites
are Hotel Pleasant Haveli and Cafe the Kaku.

Last but not least, don’t forget to visit Jaisalmer’s stunning havelis. The Patwon Ki Haveli, with
its beautiful yellow sandstone carvings, latticed windows, and magnificent pillars, is a must-see.
Walking through these grand mansions is like stepping back in time.
Finally, Jaisalmer is a treasure trove of experiences for every traveler. Jaisalmer will fascinate
you and leave you wishing to return, from touring the towering fort and temples to immersing
yourself in the city’s rich history and enjoying in its culinary delights. So pack your luggage and
prepare to discover the golden charms of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan’s crown gem.
